Mona A. Albright was born on October 20, 1924 near the Conde/Crandall area, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Hass) Albright. She attended country school and then Clark School, graduating from high school in Clark in 1941. Mona attended Northern Normal at Aberdeen obtaining her teacher's certificate. She began teaching at Ree Heights, then Logan, Raymond, and finished teaching at Doland.
On March 30, 1947 she was united in marriage to Wilbur F. "Bill" Schlagel. Mona ended her teaching career in the late 1960's and became a stay at home Mom. She loved being on the farm, tending to flowers, knitting, cooking a meal for 7 – with no warning, and balance a checkbook to the penny! Mona loved the farm animals and the animals that would wonder onto the place, taking in most everyone and then re-gifting them to others for their enjoyment. Being married to "Wild Bill" probably wasn't all joy, but she seemed to handle him just fine!
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Raymond, the Order of Eastern Star, Jolly Neighbor Club, and the Friendly Circle.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bill in 2005, a brother, Leland "Bud" (Rosie) Albright and other family members.
Survivors include daughters, Penny Schlagel of Beresford and Sally (George) Wosika of Bena, MN, grandchildren, Nathan Garrett, Jody (John) Holand, Terri (Steve) Meyer, and Heidi (Rick Weller) Pitzner and several great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Peter) Rademacher, Richard, Jacob, Billy, Alex, Mack, and Emily, and a great-great grandson, Linus.
