Mildred (Mrs. Clifford) Bjerke, 94, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, in Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN. Visitation Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 4 - 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 9 AM, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead. Prayer Service Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 1:30 PM, in Furness Funeral Home, Clark, SD. There will be visitation prior to the prayer service in Clark. Burial will be in the spring in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery (West), Clark County, SD Gladys Mildred Warwick was born October 30, 1918, near Dell Rapids, SD, to Ole and Johanna (Brende) Warwick. She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade. Mildred married Clifford Vernon Bjerke on June 1, 1937, in the Crocker (SD) Lutheran Church parsonage, and they made their home in Milton, WI. They also lived in Janesville, WI, before moving back to South Dakota. They had five children: Joan, Phyllis, Alice, Philip and Daniel. Mildred and Clifford worked for Charley Blackman until they purchased their own farm in 1949, in Clark County, SD, where they made their home. They attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church for many years. Mildred taught Sunday school and was also active in the Ladies Aid. Mildred and Clifford lived on the farm until 1962, when they moved to Moorhead, MN. They both worked for Concordia College in Moorhead. Mildred retired in 1987, after twenty-five years of perfect attendance at her job. When Mildred and Clifford moved to Moorhead, they joined Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Mildred was still a member at the time of her death. Mildred died peacefully Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN, at ninety-four years of age. Mildred is survived by her husband of over seventy-five years, Clifford, Dilworth; their children, Joan (Wallace) Fegert, Battle Lake, MN, Phyllis (Jerry) Peterson, Polson, MT, Alice Miller, Sioux Falls, SD, and Philip (Lucy) Bjerke, Fulda, MN; twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lee Bjerke; parents, five sisters, Inga, Olga, Margaret, Edna & Jeanette, two brothers Joseph and Jens, a son-in-law, Bob Miller, grand-sons, Willie Peterson, Troy Daniel Bjerke, and great-granddaughter, Baby girl Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews. www.furnessfuneralhome.com Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family along with the Kormsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead, MN.
