Michael Peter "Mikol" Hess, age 57, a resident of Columbus, NE, formerly of Clark, died at his home in Columbus on Sunday, March 6, 2011. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Clark. The Reverend Bill Hamak will officiate. Music will be provided by organist Eileen Heilman with Bonnie Graves as the song leader. a niece, McKayla LaBorde and a nephew, Michael Beach will sing a duet. The casketbearers will be his nieces and nephews, Dan, Joe, Marc and Jaci Fritz, Phillip, Barbara, Jayne Ann, Jackie and Charles Hess, McKayla LaBorde and Michael Beach. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6PM with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6PM all in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark. Visitation will continue after 9:30 AM at the Church on Saturday morning. He was born, Michael Peter Hess, the son of Albert and Patricia (Goss) Hess on May 4, 1953 at Watertown, SD. He attended school in Clark, graduating from Clark High School in 1971. He attended Northern State University in Aberdeen for a time and then joined "Up With People" for a couple of years, attended Arizona State University and eventually found his way to New York City where used the stage name of Mikol Hess. He played guitar and sang at various clubs in New York City. He also worked for TWA as an airline flight attendant for several years. He has lived in various communities in Nebraska for several years. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark. Mikol always had his mind in gear, constantly thinking and coming up with another idea for an invention. His latest was a video pro for golfers, a camera mounted on a golf cart, recording a panoramic view of their swing for teaching purposes. He had served as President of PortaPro Video. Survivors include his mother, Pat Hess of Watertown, siblings, Don (Donna) Hess of Tucson, AZ, Judi (John) Fritz of New Effington, SD, Margaret (Craig) Beach of Lincoln, NE, James (Nikki) Hess of Bemidji, MN and Tom (Jackie) Hess of Mitchell, SD and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
