Michael Lewis, age 59, formerly of Sioux Falls, died peacefully with family by his side on May 31, 2019 at the Clark Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clark, SD.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 3, 2019 at 2 PM at Miller South Side Chapel in Sioux Falls, SD.
Michael was born June 26, 1959 in San Diego, CA to parents Henry Bruce and Elaine Elizabeth (Vandall) Lewis. He attended school in California and then followed his passion of traveling. He wanted to "see where the road goes!" Throughout his travels, he was always willing to help others and he was never afraid of hard work. He worked for various farmers along his path and also was very good at mechanic work. He was a natural at it and limber enough to crawl in spaces others couldn't. He was a natural at math and would often tutor his nieces and nephews. Michael also enjoyed gardening, singing, listening to country music and playing video games.
Family brought him to South Dakota. Wanting to be near his children, he settled in Sioux Falls. In 2018, he married Susan Nielsen. He had accepted God as his Savior and enjoyed regularly attending worship services with Susan. They resided in Colton until recently, due to health problems, Michael became a resident of the Clark Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clark, SD.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Lewis and siblings James and Pam.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Susan of Colton; children James Lewis, Jazzy Sherwood and Chrissy Morey, all of Sioux Falls; a granddaughter, Leliana; brothers Dale Lewis of Moses Lake, WA, Wyatt Lewis of Anderson, CA, and Richard Lewis; sister Deborah Fugett of Wilson Creek, WA; and nieces and nephews.
