Michael A. Holmstrom

Michael A. Holmstrom, age 66, of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Clark, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home following a long illness.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel of Clark with Reverend Mindy Ehrke officiating.

Michael A. Holmstrom was born in Watertown, SD on June 6, 1951 to Algot M. and Mildred A. (Quam) Holmstrom. He grew up in the Clark area until the family moved to San Bernadino, CA in 1964.  While in California, he worked for the Sun Telegram Newspaper as a paper boy and for the Victoria Guernsey Milk Company selling bottled milk. Later, the family moved back to Clark where Mike worked for the local lumber yard while attending school in Clark.  He graduated from Clark High School in 1970. Following high school, he traveled to Texas where he worked for Stake Telephone Co. He then moved to California where he worked for Richmond Plastic Factory.  When he was in California, he enlisted in the US Army. While stationed in Panama, he married Martha Ordoñez on July 15, 1975 in Tocumen, Panama. Mike served in the Army for 22 years living in many different places including six different US states, the Panama Canal and Germany and served as the Army Recruiter in Watertown, SD for three years. He retired from the military on May 1, 1993. He was currently working for Rogers Corporation in Gilbert, AZ.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Holmstrom.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Martha Holmstrom of Gilbert, AZ; his children Marlene (Shaun) Stevenson of Gilbert, Jeannie (Dave) Trichel of Glenwood, IA, Michael (Christy) Holmstrom of Gilbert and Christopher Holmstrom of Portland, OR; his father Algot Holmstrom of Gilbert; brothers Daniel Holmstrom of Clark and Jack Holmstrom of Gilbert; his in-laws Victor and Raquel Ordoñez; sister-in-law Sylvia Holmstrom; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; 1 niece and several cousins.
