Meredith Wilson Kluess

Meredith Wilson Kluess, age 67,  passed away peacefully at his home in Chaska, MN on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Services will be held at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at 11am Saturday, January 20 with visitation beginning at 10am.   Reverend Mindy Ehrke will be officiating with Dorothy Fuller as pianist and Greg Furness as soloist. Pall bearers are John Ferguson, Wade Kluess, Steve Monson, and Rod Kluess. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

Meredith was born in Watertown, SD on June 28, 1950 to Donald Wilson and Beverly Jean (Stevens) Kluess of Clark, SD.   He was baptized and confirmed in Clark at St.  Paul Lutheran Church.  He graduated from Clark High School in 1968 and went on to SDSU in Brookings where he earned his bachelor's degree, graduating in 1972.

Upon his graduation from college, Meredith worked in various managerial positions in retail and restaurants.  These positions took him to posts in Idaho, California, Nevada, and ultimately Colorado.

In 1985, while in Colorado, he met and married Eileen Carreon of Denver.   Meredith and Eileen had one child, daughter Jessica Kluess of Leander, TX.

They later relocated to Minnesota where Meredith began working in food manufacturing.   After a thirty-year career with Michael Foods, Meredith retired on his birthday this past summer.

Jessica was the joy of his life, and Meredith enjoyed traveling to visit her in Texas and having her spend time with him in Minnesota.

Meredith was an avid reader, golfed in recreational leagues, and always valued music.   Brandi Carlisle was a favorite performer of his and meeting her in person was a highlight of his many concert attendances. Meredith enjoyed sports, but was often conflicted between his Broncos and the Vikings.   Trivia was one of his skills and Meredith's family often marveled at the vast knowledge in his brain.

He was a kid at heart and nieces and nephews loved seeing him, knowing Meredith would jump in to play games and do puzzles.

Meredith will be remembered most for his sense of humor and gentle spirit.   To quote one of his cousins, "there was no one like Meredith".

Preceding him in death were his parents, Don and Bev Kluess of Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Carreon, daughter Jessica, and his siblings Rod (Arlys) Kluess and Carmen Ferguson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of Furness Funeral Home of Clark where there is an online registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com .
