Maurice R. Rick, age 95, Webster, formerly a longtime resident of Bradley, owner operator of Rick Construction, died in the Bethesda Home at Webster early Tuesday morning, June 1, 2021.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, June7, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in the chapel at Bethesda Home in Webster with Minister Marion Grimes officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be at the Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley.  The United States Navy Honor Guard will fold and present the flag and the Larry Hartman Post #198 of Bradley will present colors and provide the firing squad.

He was born Maurice Russell Rick on December 28, 1925 at Garden City, the son of Russell Corliss and Hazel Irene (Heath) Rick.  Maurice attended school at rural Wallace, Henry, Garden City and Elrod.  He moved with his family to Bradley in 1942 and worked for Brown Auto Co. prior to enlisting in the United States Navy on November 16, 1944.

During his years in the service he trained at Camp Farragut, ID and served aboard of the USS PSC 1459 in the Aleution Islands near Adak and the US Naval Base at Kwajalein during the nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll until be honorably discharged on July 12, 1946.

On December 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Ardys Christensen at Bradley.  The couple has lived their entire married life in Bradley.  The couple had moved to Webster in 2016.  Ardys died June 25, 2020.

While living in Bradley he was an active part of the community, being a member of the Bradley Town Board for 25 years, serving as chairman of the board part of that time.  He was a life member of the Larry Hartman Post 108 American Legion, past member of the Bradley Volunteer Fire Dept and the Watertown Chapter of the SD Home Builders and the National Home Builders Association.

Maurice was baptized into the Methodist faith, joining the First Baptist Church of Bradley on August 9, 1954 until its closure.  He had served as treasurer of the church for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Ardys, daughter, Yvonne in June of 2000 and brothers, Glen, Gerald, Floyd, Keath, and George Rick; sisters, Va Donna Forbragd, and Tamara Quigley.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie (Ted) Foster of Pierre, grandchildren, Laura (Paul) Menning, Carmen (Keith) Erickson, and Kristal Foster and great-grandchildren, Rowdy and Branch Menning, and Nataly and Nicola Erickson.
