Mary Hardy

Mary Smith Hardy, 96, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, at Furness Funeral Home in Clark, SD with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Clark, SD.  The Reverend Mindy Ehrke will officiate.  Dorothy Fuller and Roger Nordhus will provide the music.  Following the interment, a lunch will be served in the funeral home reception area.

Mary Smith McHenry, daughter of Hudson and Irene (Smith) McHenry, was born July 2, 1921 in Dow City, IA.  The family moved to Clark, SD where she graduated from high school in 1939.

She married Leslie Hardy Jr. and from this union they were blessed with two children, Leslie in 1940 and Kay in 1942.  Following their divorce in 1962, Mary attended Nettleton College of Business, and focused on her career as a District Sales Manager for Avon products in Minnesota and then became State Supervisor of Western Iowa for Royal Neighbors of America Insurance where she trained and motivated sales staffs for over 25 years.  She retired in 1989.

She was a longtime member of the Clark Methodist Church, and she enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and entertaining.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Kay (Dick) Casanova, Sioux Falls, SD; her sister-in-law, Kathleen McHenry, Clark, SD; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Leslie Hardy; a brother, Charles McHenry; her step-mother, Maude McHenry.
