Martin "Marty" Fox, age 62, of Henry, formerly of DeSmet and Clark, died on Thursday, August 24, 2024, at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark with Pastor Jody Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery of Clark. Lunch will be held at the Furness Funeral Home Fellowship Room.
Martin Walter Fox was born on November 18, 1961 to parents Karen (Miller) and Dean Fox at Webster, SD. He joined a sister Becky at home. Marty grew up in rural Clark and graduated from Clark High School in 1980 where he participated in choir and football. Marty had a beautiful voice. Following graduation, he attended Dakota State University in Madison, SD.
Marty worked for a time in Aberdeen for the City of Aberdeen and also as a parts man. He was last employed by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead of DeSmet as a groundskeeper and maintenance man. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching movies, watching sports especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and spending time with his dog, Bogey. Marty was always "his own man" doing things his own way.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen, his sisters, Shelly Fox and Becky (Kenneth) Scotter, and two nephews, Justin Lake and Nathan Scotter.
Marty's survivors include his father, Dean Fox of Clark, a daughter, Cigi Fox and a grandson, both of Britton, three step-sisters, JoLinda (Reece) Brown of Gettysburg, Jodi (Jon) Heller of Kansas City, KS, and Chantell (Bryan) Engels of Minneota, Minnesota; one step-brother, Brett (Wanda) Hanson of Wolsey; a niece, Chelsey (Justin) Brock of Huron, several great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Furness Funeral Home of Clark is assisting the family with arrangements.
