Marsha Culey Bakken

Marsha (Larry) Culey-Bakken, age 62, died on Thursday afternoon, April 4, 2019, in the University of Minnesota East Bank Hospital at Minneapolis from complications of a rare lung disease, while waiting for a double lung transplant.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5-7PM with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6:30 PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with The Reverend Daniel Smith celebrating.  St. Michael's Choir will provide the music.  Lectors will be Shane Culey, Erin Culey-Zachow, Brayden Zachow. Honorary Casketbearers will be her McCain friends plus Connie Norvell, Joyce Lamb, Jackie Evans, Julie McElhone, Cindy Schroeder, Mary Mehlberg, Vicki Orris, Monica Hofer, Karen Klucas, Louann Streff and Sharon Heck. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark.  Following the burial, everyone is invited to return to the Church hall for a dinner and a time of fellowship.

She was born Marsha Marie Culey on June 29, 1956 at Watertown, the daughter of Giles Isadore and Margie I (Imrie) Culey.  Marsha attended school at Clark graduating in 1974.  Marsha was employed by Chef-Reddy/McCain Foods for a number of years and was instrumental in forming a group of McCain Employees for reunions.  She was also very active in organizing reunions for the Class of 1974 and its Facebook page.  Marsha had a humor that will be remembered by all that knew her.  She was always willing to give advice to anyone including the writer of this obituary – yes the local undertaker!  Her preference for funeral flowers were not to have any stinky flowers, purple balloons instead and no one gawking at her!

She was united in marriage to Larry M. Bakken on November 21, 1996 at Clark.  The couple have made their home in Clark since that time.

Survivors include her husband Larry of Clark, siblings, Dan (Mary) Sioux Falls, Karin (Dean) Dunkel, Valentine, NE, Kevin Culey, Ainsworth, NE, Mike (Lisa) Culey, Lincoln, NE and Jean Culey of North Platte, NE and a host of other family and friends,

Preceded in death by parents, siblings, Kathleen and Tim and half-sisters: Pat Anderson, Betty Wilson and Mary Jo Gaetze
