Marlys (Davis-Clark) Schaack, age 83, a former Henry/Watertown resident, died in the United Living Community at Brookings early October 25, 2021.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 10AM to Noon at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark with funeral services beginning at 2PM. Pastor Michael Peterson will officiate. Wendy Christman will provide special music. Casket Bearers will be Leon Holzerland, Chris Rondell, Lindsey Bock, Mark Spath, Micheal Dexter, and Galen Gibson. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
She was born Marlys Marie Davis, the daughter of William and Hazel (Smith) Davis on December 19, 1937.
Marlys was united in marriage to Willis Clark in Watertown. To this union three children were born, Mary, Peggy, and Martin. The marriage ended in divorce and later she married Paul Schaack. He died sometime ago.
Over the years she was a stay-at-home mom, tending to the needs of her family. She thoroughly enjoyed baking, cooking, going to rummage sales, playing bingo and craft work, especially crocheting and embroidering. She will long be remembered for her cookies and rice pudding. Marlys also baby-sat for some 15 years.
Later on in life she lived with her granddaughter, Kay Thennis a Watertown, and then in the care center at Lake Norden and the past year and a half in the United Living Community at Brookings.
Preceding her in life were her parents, husbands, 5 siblings, and some grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, a son, Martin Clark, Eureka, CA, and daughters, Mary Clark of Brookings, and Peggy Green of Watertown. Also surviving is a brother, Richard (Dee) Davis of Iowa, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
