Marjorie H. Rotvold, age 85, Watertown, the widow of Lorry Rotvold, died in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown on Monday afternoon, January 7, 2008. She had resided in Jenkins Living Center since 2000. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2PM in the South Lake Church of Christ at Watertown with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. The organist will be Nancy Maynard with the Rev. Roger Rotvold as soloist. Honorary casketbearers will be step-brothers and step-sisters and all nieces and nephews. The active casketbearers in South Dakota will be Mark, John, Jason, Joshua and Brad Maynard and Justin Fuller. Burial will take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, AZ at 2PM on Thursday, January 17, 2008. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the Church in Watertown and also 1 hour prior to the services in Arizona at Mountain View Mortuary. She was born on August 26, 1922 at Hillsboro, ND, the daughter of Ivan and Beatrice (Groth) Nedland. She attended grade school at Hillsboro and then graduated from high school at Mayville, ND in 1940. She attended Mayville State Teachers College for one year, then Franklin LPN School in Minneapolis, MN. She worked as an LPN at Kenner Hospital in Chicago and also at Mineral Springs in Cannon Falls, MN. On November 5, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lorry Rotvold when he returned from service in the Pacific Theater of WWII. They farmed east of Hillsboro in Trail County on the home farm for 35 years. Upon retirement in 1980, they moved to Sunland Village in Mesa, AZ. He died in May of 1992. Marjorie was baptized and confirmed in Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Hillsboro and also had membership at Victory Lutheran in Mesa. She served many years as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the church circle at Hillsboro. She enjoyed taking part as an officer and active member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hillsboro. Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and musician. She enjoyed singing, playing clarinet and traveling with her husband Lorry. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Lorry, two step-brothers and a nephew. Grateful for having shared her life is a sister Barbara (Wayne) Maynard and of Clark, two step-brothers, Gilmer (Arlene) Rotvold of Dickenson, ND and Lawrence (Vee) Rotvold of Denver, CO, four step-sisters, Borghild (Joe) Trexler of Mesa, AZ, Ellen Wilson of McKeesport, PA, Ruby Huseby of Warroad, MN and Loretta (Fred) Cornman of Chandler, AZ. She also leaves a niece Linda (Wayne) Fuller of Vienna and two nephews, Mark (Pat) Maynard of Henry, SD and John (Connie) Maynard of Clark, 8 grand nieces and nephews, five great-grand nephews and nieces and many step-nieces and nephews and grand step-nieces and nephews. She dearly loved all children and enjoyed participating in their activities. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Unit at Jenkins Living Center or Prairie Lakes Healthcare System Hospice both at Watertown, SD.
