Marjorie Meyer

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church in Raymond after 9:30AM on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 22, 2017 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (WELS) at Raymond with Pastor Randy Bader officiating. Barb Wegman will be the organist.  The Casketbearers will be Tyler Meyer, Cody Terrill, Vincent Knutson, T. J. Meyer, Steven Ryan, and Kevin Fleming.  Burial will follow in the Prairie Valley Cemetery at Raymond.

Marjorie (Midge) was born February 16th, 1943 to Melvin and Grace (McFarlane) Pigman, at Slayton, MN, the youngest of 3 girls. She walked with her sisters to attend Ewington Consolidated School for her elementary years and graduated from Okabena High School in Okabena, MN. Midge was a good horseman. She was a member of Ewington 4-H Club, Spafford Saddle Club, Mounted Flag Drill Team and Minnesota High School Rodeo. She was Minnesota HSRA All Around Cowgirl in 1960 and 1961. She competed at the National High School Rodeo all 4 years of High School earning 4th, 3rd, and 2nd Place respectively in Pole Bending. On August 24, 1962, Midge married Robert Meyer at a country Lutheran church near Worthington, MN while Bob was serving in the Navy.  She and Bob lived on the island of Bermuda during the Cuban Missile Crisis. They moved to a farm near Raymond, SD after Bob's enlistment ended where they raised their family. It was important to Midge that she be a stay at home mom for her kids and a partner in the farm and cattle work with Bob. Bob passed away on August 16th, 2012 after 50+ years of life together. Midge was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Raymond. Her strong faith was nurtured and grew stronger here. In later years, Midge worked as a cook at the school in Clark. She loved dancing, puzzles, reading, working word searches but most of all, spending time with her family. Midge had been fighting Breast Cancer for 20 + years and THE CANCER LOST. Midge is now in a painless and better place while we are here to say goodbye and celebrate the life she lived and the legacy she leaves us.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Robert "Bob" Meyer.

Midge is survived by her children, Dan Meyer (fiancé April McMurtry), Boise, ID, Denise Olson, North Branch, MN, and Deb Meyer (Knutson), Monticello, MN; 15 grandchildren ;10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Gwen (Jerry) Fleace and Arlys (Gary) Schuett, and six brothers-in-law, Chuck (Joanie) Meyer, Ken (JoAnn) Meyer, Jim (Dottie) Meyer, Floyd Meyer, Alan (Patricia) Meyer, and Dennis (Jane) Meyer.
