Marilyn H. (Anderson) Young, age 83, Clark, died on January 10, 2012 in the Golden Living Center at Clark following a lingering illness. She was the widow of Carl Anderson and Lloyd Young. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with The Reverend Dayne Zachrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. The organist will be Dorothy Fuller with the soloist being Marilyn's grandson-in-law, Clay Wilhelm. He will sing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". The congregation will sing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again". Honorary casketbearers will be Nicole Dews, Laura Kelley, Christine Desnoyers, Holly Wilhelm, Alyssa Mushitz, Jenny Christianson, Jessica Desnoyers and Kristin Desnoyers. The active casketbearers will be Michael Christianson, Brian Kelley, Corey Mushitz, Clay Wilhelm, Martin Dews, Joe & Ben Desnoyers and Ari Kuchinsky. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Friday at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark and after 10AM at the Church on Saturday morning. She was born Marilyn Harriet Adney on February 5, 1928 at Watertown, SD, the daughter of Harry and Ella (Vanderlan) Adney. Marilyn attended school in Watertown graduating from Watertown High School. On December 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Carl R. Anderson at Webster. The couple lived and farmed near Garden City where Marilyn too was active in the farming operation and raising her family. For many years, Marilyn worked for the Clark School District as the Head Cook. She also worked at Citizens State Bank (Dacotah Bank) for several years in the accounting department. He died on April 9, 1971. Marilyn was united in marriage to Lloyd V. Young on September 13, 1975. The couple lived in Clark until his death on September 14, 2004. She has continued making Clark her home living in the Garden Grove Apartments, the Fay Wookey Memorial Assisted Living Center and since the summer of 2011, the Golden Living Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clark and the Clark Senior Citizens. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and Scrabble with her friends and family. She was a formidable opponent and her winnings will be contributed to a worthy cause. Marilyn will long be remembered for making the family recipe for fruitcake. Her fruitcakes converted many non-believers. Preceding her in death was her Mother, Ella Adney Martinell, Father, Harry Adney and husbands, Carl R. Anderson and Lloyd V. Young. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Carla Kelley of Austin, TX, Barbara (Henry) Desnoyers of Clark, SD, Marjorie Paddock of Glenview, IL and Bernard (Linda) Anderson of Garden City, SD; 9 grandchildren, Nicole Dews, Joseph Desnoyers, Brian Kelley, Christine Desnoyers, Laura Kuchinsky, Michael Christianson, Holly Wilhelm, Ben Desnoyers and Alyssa Mushitz and 13 great-grandchildren, Thomas Dews, Jack Christianson, Andrea Dews, Charles Desnoyers, Ella Christianson, Kate Desnoyers, Grace Desnoyers, Hayden Wilhelm, Carlee Mushitz, Audrey Wilhelm, Haylee and Kylee Mushitz and Jacob Kuchinsky.
