She was born on January 6, 1933, to Harold and Viola "Verna" (Busch) Lamb at the home of her grandparents, John and Jenny Lamb in Clark County. She was a twin that took many hours of extra care and love from her parents to survive. Her twin brother, Marlo Harold, died two days after birth.

She was baptized at Good Hope Lutheran Church on June 17, 1933, where she was later confirmed in her faith on May 11, 1947.

Marilyn attended elementary school in Northwest and Northeast Merton Schools. She left home at the age of 14 to attend Clark High School, which she graduated from with the class of 1950. There was no bus service back then so she stayed with her grandparents and later Marvin and Adeline Rasmussen while she attended school. After graduating, she started working as a secretary for Clark County Agent, Coleman Wagner. This was when the court house was located at what is now the swimming pool park. She later worked the graveyard shift at Fairfield Foods where she worked the graveyard shift so she could be home when her children came home from school.

She married Floyd C. Lamb on November 18, 1951, at Good Hope Lutheran Church. They farmed the land together until Floyd's death in September 1989. To this union six children were born. She loved her family and enjoyed attending their school events. She also enjoyed following her grandchildren in their sporting, music and theater school events. She loved the farm and was only able to continue living there with the assistance of Chris, Fawn, Thomas, Barbara, and Debra.

She passed her time by creating embroidered dishtowels, counted cross stitch pictures and quilting. She enjoyed making many dishtowels and quilts for Good Hope's Bazaar every spring. She made multiple quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, working jig-saw puzzles, and search-a-words. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Whenever someone drove on the farm she had a meal or snacks prepared for them. She enjoyed working with her flowers when she was able to and feeding and watching birds. She had a love for cardinal birds and had a large collection of cardinal figurines. Her greatest joy was sending greeting cards to family and friends as she wanted to make people feel special.

She was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church where she held several offices for the WELCA. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for several years. She and Floyd were members of the Tip Toe Square Dance Club. Marilyn was a charter member of Willing Workers 4-H Club where she was not only a member but later a leader. All six of her children were also members of Willing Workers 4-H Club. She never missed a class reunion as she loved to reminisce with her classmates.

Those grateful for having shared in her life include her six children, Gwendelyn (Terry) Bobbie, Sioux Falls; Marlowe (Jeri) Lamb, Vienna; Barbara Lamb, Sioux Falls; Debra Lamb, Vienna; Gary (Sara Jo) Lamb, Watertown; and Chris (Fawn) Lamb, Vienna; her 13 grandchildren, Matthew Lamb, Sioux Falls; April (Dave) Willman, Yankton; Jason (Nina) Lamb, Hazel; Jennifer (Jeromie) Keating, Sioux Falls; Melissa (Billy) Faehnrich, Sioux Falls; Cassandra Lamb, Warner; David (Brittany) Glanzer, Hartford; Jarred (Shayna) Lamb, Clark; Nathan (Amanda) Glanzer, Carpenter; Jordana (Tyler) Neeman, Faulkton; Thomas Lamb, Vienna; Molli Jo (Andrew) Stransky, Sioux Falls; and Kolton Michalski, Sioux Falls; her 18 great grandchildren, Damien Willman, Lillian Lamb, Tatum Glanzer, Easton Faehnrich, Jason Willman, Lucille Lamb, Caroline Glanzer, Kynsley Glanzer, Ellie Glanzer, Brooks Neeman, Floyd M.
