Marilyn Berreth

Marilyn Jean Berreth, age 76, of Willow Lake, the widow of Ervin, passed away peacefully in the Parkview Care Center at Bryant on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 after a courageous battle due to cancer. Her daughter Marcie, her sister Joann along with a daughter-in-law, Nancy, Brenda Verdon and the hospice nurse, Lisa were at her side.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with Pastor Steven Johnson officiating. Dorothy Fuller and Greg Furness will provide special music. Edie Atkins will provide a special reading.  The honorary Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Following the services, a light lunch will be served in the funeral home reception area. A private burial will be held in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services.

She was born Marilyn Jean Yates on September 28, 1941 at Neligh, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert D. and Dorothy (Ward) Yates. Marilyn attended grade school in Mitchell and then Aberdeen Central High School.

On November 2, 1959 she was united in marriage to Ervin Berreth at Webster. The couple lived in Willow Lake for many years. Ervin died in February of 1994.

In her free moments she enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and sitting on the porch, watching things out in the yard, especially the small animals. Having visits with her friends was very important to her as well as enjoying her "Lincoln" in recent times! Spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren always was a highlight to her.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, parents, husband Ervin and brothers-in-law, Leonard Simmons and Gene Meheagan.

Survivors include her children, Shirley, Marcie (Norlan) Froke, Michael (Tara), and Lorie Meier, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters, Betty Simmons and Joann Meheagan and a brother, Robert Yates. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Willow Lake Ambulance Service % Marcie Froke at Willow Lake.
