Margaret V Yerdon

Margaret V. Yerdon, age 102, Bryant, formerly of Bradley, died in the Parkview Care Center early Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015. She was the widow of Eugene Yerdon. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Parkview Care Center Chapel at Bryant with the Reverend Fred Rosin officiating. There will be no visitation. A private interment will be held at a later date in Arkansas. She was born Margaret V. Storm on February 12, 1913 at Waco, TX. She attended country schools around Albany, TX and then in 1929 she graduated high school at the age of 15. She had been promoted from the 1st to the 3rd grade because she was helping the teacher with the 3rd graders in spelling and arithmetic. Margaret moved to California where she completed several degrees including two Bachelors', two Master's and a Professional degree as an Industrial Therapist. While in schooling she worked in a shoe store and also modeled clothing. She later opened a private practice in California and worked as an Industrial Therapist. She was united in marriage to Eugene Yerdon on September 16, 1966. The couple lived in Arkansas for a period of time where she enjoyed being a foster grandparent at an elementary school. She also taught art and line dancing at a local senior center. During her lifetime she also wrote a brochure on autistic children "Across the Bridge" in which all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald Home. In 1958 Margaret received an award in California as the Professional Women of the Year and in 1959 she received from the Governor of California, the "Most Valuable State Employee". Her interests were many, among them pets, walking outdoors, especially in the evening, watching the stars come out, painting, sketching and drawing. Margaret was also proud of her American Indian heritage, being part of the Shoshone American Indian Tribe. Preceding her in death was her husband Eugene in 2012. There are no survivors. Dear friends, Sue McGowan of Tacoma, WA, Fred & Sally Rosin of Bryant and the Raymers of Bradley and her Parkview Care Center family she was especially grateful for. Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at: www.furnessfuneralhome.com
