Margaret "Mickie" Woods

Margaret "Mickie" Woods, age 74, Watertown, the wife of LeRoy Woods, died after suffering an apparent heart attack in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown early Thursday morning, February 22, 2018.  They were former Garden City residents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark with a Liturgical Wake service beginning at 6:30PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the Church in Watertown, 1 hour prior to Mass.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Reverend Paul Rutten celebrating.  The organist will be Helen Gollnick with the IC Funeral Choir providing special music.  The casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Following a dinner at the Church, burial will take place in the Garden City Cemetery at Garden City.

She was born Margaret L. Clemen on September 12, 1943, in Day County, the daughter of Leo P. and Bertha E. (Boldes) Clemen.  She was raised in Bristol graduating from Bristol High School in 1961.

On August 9, 1963 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Woods in the St. Otto Catholic Church at Webster.  She and LeRoy made Garden City their home where she assisted her husband with his repair business, LeRoy's Repair.  Other places of employment were working on the potato harvesters for area farmers, Roetell Assisted Living Center in Clark, a daycare owner-operator, and second to none though was being a #1 Mom and homemaker.  She loved to cook, anything – especially for the grandchildren and in-laws!

Mickie thoroughly enjoyed participating in multiple Bristol All-School Reunions and in recent years she called Hy-Vee "The happiest place on earth"- she loved shopping and talking to people, catching up on the news!  Most of all though, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the great-grandsons – since their arrival, many others had to take the back seat.  Mickie also gave the appearance of being a really wonderful great-grandma- which she was- but she also was really an eternal teenager.

She made her theater debut in the Watertown Town Players Community Theater.  While living in Garden City, she had served as the Mayor and also was Co-Chair of the Garden City Centennial.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother-in-law, Roy Olson, and her in-laws, George and Muriel Woods.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband LeRoy of Watertown, children, Tom (Patti) Woods of Groton, Jamie (David) Nemmers of Huron, Bill (Colleen) Woods of Raymond, MN, and Peggy (Robert) McAdams of Sioux Falls, SD, 11 grandchildren, Brianna (Zach) Geary, Mariah (Jayde) Graves, Samantha (James) Roepke, Sarah (Dalton) Sichmeller, Davis Nemmers, Emily Woods, Katie Nemmers, Brodie Woods, Noelle Nemmers, Ethan Nemmers, and Carysa McAdams; 3 great-grandchildren, Nolan Graves, Zander Geary, and Milo Roepke. She also leaves siblings, Nancy Olson of Dassel, MN and Robert (Janel) Clemen of Minneapolis and in-laws, Dean (Glenda) Woods of Florence, Duane (Linda) Woods and "Annie" Helen Woods, all of Watertown and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
