Margaret Roberts

Margaret Roberts, age 96, Clark, formerly of the Raymond community, the widow of Russ, died early morning, October 17, 2019, in the Avantara Clark Care Center.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue on Friday morning in the funeral home chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019, at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark. Following a dinner in the funeral home reception area, burial will take place in the Prairie Valley Cemetery at Raymond. Minister Michelle Mehlberg will officiate. Deb Waldner will be the pianist. Family members will serve as casketbearers.

She was born Margaret Lucke on July 23, 1923, at Doland, the daughter of Erwin and Myrtle Lucke.

Margaret grew up in the Doland/Raymond area, graduated high school and went on to obtain her teachers certificate.  She then taught country school north of Raymond until her marriage to Russell Roberts on July 11, 1943, at Montgomery, Alabama.  Russ was in the Army Air Corps.  In 1944, after his discharge, the couple returned to the Raymond area and engaged in farming.  She helped on the farm in many ways.  In the early 1970's they owned and operated the Double R Bar & Grill in Raymond where she helped cook.  Russ died in 2002.  Margaret moved to the Wookey Center in 2004 and then into the Clark Care Center in 2017.

In her free moments she loved to garden, can, raise flowers – especially peonies, work on puzzles, and play games and cards.  For a time she sold World Book Encyclopedias, earning enough sales for a trip! In the community she was a longtime  and faithful member of the Raymond Presbyterian Church, its Women's groups, and a member of the Raymond American Legion Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and children, Davin, Dana, and Barbara Kay and a son-in-law, Butch Claussen.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Claussen of Clark, grandchildren, Russell, Robin, Ryan, Donny, Dana, Darrell, and Dylan and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
