She was born Margaret Christena Huber on November 15, 1916 at Crandall, SD the daughter of Leo Jerome and Rose Iomgene (King) Huber. She attended rural schools in Clark County, Clark County Public, and graduated from the Logan Consolidated High School. She obtained a teachers certificate from Northern Normal and later returned to Northern State University in Aberdeen obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in 1971. Margaret taught country school in the 1930's and also again in the 1950's in South Dakota. She lived in California from 1939-1949 where she worked as a nanny/maid and as a cashier at the Peninsula Creamery. Her occupations involved working with people, which she loved - especially teaching. On December 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to Albin V. Holmquist in the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at Palo Alto, CA. The couple lived in California until the fall of 1949 when they moved to a farm, 12 miles southeast of Conde, where they engaged in farming. Albin went to the Lord on January 21, 2002. She was a member of the Catholic Faith, a Faith that she lived and was extremely important to her, attending Mass at St. John's in Conde, St. Michael's in Clark and Immaculate Conception Parish in Watertown. Margaret was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, an extension club, retired teachers association, senior citizens groups and their activities, and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed cooking and visiting with family and friends - she always had time for her family, friends and the Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her beloved husband of 56 years, Albin, brothers, Leo Frederick "Fritz" Huber and Maurice Jerome Huber and sisters-in-law, Leota & Lenore Huber. Grateful for sharing in her life are her children, Dennis (Sharon) Holmquist of Maple Grove, MN and Danielle Holmquist-Holida and husband Bruce Holida of Watertown; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Margery Huber of Conde. Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com.
