Margaret Hallberg, age 103, Clark, the widow of Harold Hallberg, died peacefully in the Golden Living Center at Clark late Tuesday night, August 26, 2014. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue after 9AM at the Church in Clark. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Assembly of God Church at Clark with The Reverend Kevin Peterson officiating. Judy Wileman will be the pianist. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. The honorary casketbearers will be Mike, Chris, Ed, Gary, and Dale Hallberg and Virgil Petersen. Active casketbearers will be Jerry and John Olson, Bill and Mark Froke, Bob Gergen and Greg Furness. She was born Bertha Margaret Froke on August 29, 1910 at Vienna, SD, the daughter of Melvin and Mary (Faiferlick) Froke. Margaret attended school in Vienna graduating from Vienna High School in 1928. On March 5, 1930 she was united in marriage to Harold Hallberg at Watertown. The couple lived and farmed 9 miles southwest of Clark until retiring and moving in to Clark in August of 1969. Harold died on November 5 of 1987. Over the years Margaret assisted at the Community Funeral Home, the Haugland Funeral Home and the Furness Funeral Home, answering telephones and sitting visitations. Over the years Margaret enjoyed many dogs, cats and an abundance of neighborhood kids, stopping by for a visit, to pet the dogs, or for a cookie. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting, entertaining coffee parties and having company. Margaret continued to live in her own home until the age of 102, and then became resident of the Golden Living Center in Clark in September of 2012. She was baptized in the Vienna Lutheran Church in 1910 and was confirmed there in 1924. Margaret has been a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clark for many years where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and participated in many other activities at the Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, Nina Chambers, Lester "Sonny" Froke, and Arlene (George) Stevens. Survivors include a son, Terry (Thess) Hallberg of Seattle, WA, two grandsons, Mike and Chris Hallberg, nieces and nephews.
