She was born Margaret Mary Beckman on December 8, 1923 at Sheffield, Alabama, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Wade) Beckman. Margaret attended St. Joseph's elementary school and then graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School in Cullman, Alabama.
Margaret was a sales person in a jewelry store after high school. It was in that jewelry store in Alabama that she met Vince Geise. Wanting to learn more about Vince's character, Margaret's father Fredrick, contacted Clark's priest through a letter, wanting to know if Vince was good enough for his daughter. The priest in Clark gave him the thumbs up and the rest is history. Margaret and Vince were united in marriage on October 5, 1943 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Sheffield, Alabama. Following their marriage, they lived in Alabama until Vince was discharged from the US Coast Guard. They moved to Clark and lived here their entire marriage. Vince died December 9 of 1999.
While she lived in Clark, Margaret was a sales person for Edna's Dress Shop and Knutson Drug Store, both for 12 years each. She enjoyed sewing and counted cross-stitching, completing many projects and winning blue ribbons. Margaret was always up for a garage sale, where the deal was, if you bought 1 item, you must get rid of 2. Hmm never happened! In younger days she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.
She was a longtime member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. After Vince's death, she became a member of the Clark Development Board.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Vince, and siblings, Paul (Elizabeth) Beckman, Arnold (Julia) Beckman, Sister Cornelia Beckman, and Sister Mary Vincent Beckman.
Survivors include her daughters, Christina (Jim) Weisbrod of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Catherine (Jack) Mortick of Silver Springs, Maryland; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
