Marcella Peckham

Marcella Peckham, 83, Clark, SD died Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 13 at 10:30 am at the St. Michael's Catholic Church of Clark with the Reverend Daniel Smith officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Music will be provided by Diane Varilek and Bonnie Graves.  Urn bearers will be Bernie Palluck and Michael White. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Marcella Louise Hess was born July 6, 1933 to Nicholas "Nick" Hess and Delina (Faucher) Hess on a farm near Elrod. She grew up in the area working at Knutson Drug and Baldwin's Ice Cream in Clark until graduating from Clark High School in 1951.

On July 16, 1952, Marcella married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Peckham. She helped with the family businesses of Peckham Well Drilling and Dakota Lawn Care while also raising her six children. She also worked in the Clark County Director of Equalization Office. Marcella and Bob were very active members of the Clark Wrestling Booster Club and spent many hours attending wrestling matches and tournaments. Marcella had a strong Catholic faith and was a long time member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

In later years, Marcella worked at Wood-n-Gifts and Roetell's Senior Housing. She was always a hard worker who never enjoyed to sit idle. Throughout the years, she completed many beautiful sewing and quilting projects. She also enjoyed going for a drive to see the countryside.

Marcella is survived by her children- Marie (Tony) Palluck of Clark, Cindy White of Fort Dodge, IA, Linda (Joe) Beving of Watertown, David Peckham of Sioux Falls, and Doug (Jody) Peckham of Farmington, MN; a daughter-in-law Cathy Peckham of Omaha, NE; twelve grandchildren and 10 great-grandchilden; sister Delores (Joe) Berher and sister-in-law Jackie Peckham of Clark.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bob Peckham, son Dale Peckham, son-in-law Jeff White, and brothers Nick and Fred Hess.
