Mabel D. Evans

Mabel D. Evans, age 79, Watertown, formerly of Clark and Boulder,CO died Friday morning, March 17, 2006 in Jenkins Living Center at Watertown. She was the widow of Gerald "Jerry" Evans. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 11AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder, CO. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memorial Park at Boulder, CO. There will be visitation at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Wednesday and also 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Thursday. Mabel was born February 20, 1927 near Altamont, South Dakota to Charles E. and Dorothea (Olson) Johnson. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. She married Arnold Lentz and to this union a son was born. On October 18, 1947, she married Gerald M. 'Jerry' Evans in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union, 4 sons were born. The couple made their home in South Dakota, and Golden, Colorado until moving to Boulder in 1973. The couple wintered in Mesa, AZ for several years. She moved to Clark in 2004 and then to Watertown. Mrs. Evans was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder. She is survived by three sons, William J. Evans and his wife, Debbie, of Bothell, Washington, Terry E. Evans and his wife, Jackie, of Bradley, South Dakota, and Robert A. Evans and his wife, Kathy, of Longmont, Colorado; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law Elnore Johnson of Brookings. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; her parents; two sons, Doug Lentz and Scott Evans; two brothers, Don Johnson and Floyd 'Lefty' Johnson; and three sisters, Hazel Iverson and Stella Furness, Gladys McReynolds.
