Lyle L. "Bill" Yeoman, Jr., age 78, Clark, died in the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Friday evening, September 9, 2011. A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11AM in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD. He was born Lyle Lewis Yeoman on April 6, 1933, at Norfolk, NE, the son of Lyle Lewis and Bernice (Denney) Yeoman, Sr. The family moved to the Rapid City area where he attended Rapid City High School graduating in 1951. He then entered the United States Navy during the Korean War Period and served his country honorably from 1951-1955. While in Rapid City he also owned and operated a Phillips 66 Station. He and his family lived in various communities in South Dakota among them being Rapid City, Dell Rapids, Mitchell and Pierre. While in Dell Rapids he worked for the State of South Dakota as a Highway Patrolman for several years. He also coached the Dell Rapids Legion Baseball Team to two State "B" Championships. In addition to his love of coaching, he also enjoyed playing "8" Ball pool, even winning a State Championship. Bill as he was known to many, also enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and other sports. He was a member of the BPOE, serving as Past Exalted Ruler, the American Legion and Ducks Unlimited. Another employment of his was serving in various capacities in the insurance industry until he retired. Following his retirement he lived at West Whitlock, loving the fishing and then moved to Clark in recent years. Preceding him in death were his parents, Bernice and Lyle, Sr., a brother, Dale, sisters, Charlotte and Martha Helen and wives, Marilyn and Dorothy. Survivors include children, Brett (Carol) Yeoman of Sioux Falls, Clay Yeoman of Clark, Susan (Anthony) Gonzalez of East Rochester, NY and Lynn (Peter) Bourke of Arvada, CO, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters and a brother Don (Darlene) Yeoman of Rockport, TX.
