Lowell Wilmer Pederson, was born on May 9, 1929 on a farm south east of Clark, the son of Hendie (H.O.) and Christina (Aaker) Pederson. He was the second to the youngest child born, Gladys, Thelma, Hazel, Leonard, Myrtle, Oliver 'Wayne', Janice, Lowell and Walter. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then Clark High School for two years.
He helped his father on the farm following his schooling as his father lost his leg in a bad power take-off (PTO) accident. Lowell and his brother Wally had a chore on the farm of breaking horses. As a young man, he also was able to buy land in the area, and was glad he did. Lowell would rent out his land in early years and worked in a paper mill on the Columbia River, a foundry in New York, roofing and construction jobs, as well as helping build the Fort Randall dam. He joined the Navy in 1952, hoping to see the world, but spent most of the time in the shipyard Harbor, and was discharged in 1954.
On July 25, 1961 he was united in marriage to Marge Kretzschmar. The couple lived and farmed south west of Clark until her death in 2005. Lowell continued living on the farm until moving in to the Wookey Center in 2015 and then to Avantara Clark City in 2018. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he helped with the annual lutefisk supper- for a package or two of his favorite – lefse!
He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, baseball, bowling and dancing - falling at age 88 and breaking a hip! In younger years hunting was a pastime. He also said, "Travel if you get a chance. There's a lot to be seen – go out and enjoy it".
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Marge and all of his siblings.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews on the Pederson and Kretzschmar sides.
