Lori (Mrs. David) Dale, age 59, Clark, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown, after a lengthy, hard fought battle due to pancreatic cancer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
Lori's request was that in lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the 4-H Clubs of Clark County, so that her love of 4-H will live on for years to come. She was born Lori Jean Rasmusson on July 15, 1956 in Watertown, SD to Craig and Jeanice (Alexander) Rasmusson. Lori grew up on a farm near Elrod and Bradley, SD with one brother, Todd Rasmusson. She graduated from Bradley High School in 1974 and received her LPN from Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown in 1975.
Lori competed in numerous horse shows growing up and participated in 4-H and High School Rodeo. As a 4-H member she showed cattle. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and competed in shows across the nation into her adult years.
Lori married David Clarence Dale on August 16, 1975 at Bradley, SD in the St. John's Lutheran Church. Their first home was in Sisseton, SD and they later moved to Bradley, SD. David and Lori have lived in the Garden City area for the past 36 years.
Lori had a career as a nurse for 38 years, working at the CDP Hospital in Sisseton; Webster Hospital; Sundial Manor in Bristol; the Clark Nursing Home and also co-owned New Hope Services in the Clark/Watertown area with Holly Beving for 3 years. She has worked for Odyssey Research; Prairie Lakes Hospital and as a PRN employee of Sanford Health.
Lori enjoyed many things through the years, but her most loved organization was 4-H. She has been an active member, leader and advocate of 4-H her entire life. For 20 years, she was a leader for the Clever Clovers 4-H Club. Lori so enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren show cattle, horses, sheep and chickens. She was an active member of the Learn-a-Long Extension Club for more than 35 years.
She loved taking care of the yard and gardens. Lori loved having the kids and grandkids visit on the weekends for food, fun and laughter. Watching her grandchildren ride and enjoy the horses and ponies made her heart happy.
Lori's favorite week of the year was the famous "Grandma Camp." A fun filled week with all eight of the grandchildren.
Lori is survived by her husband David, children Justin (Becki) Dale of Garden City, Darci (Brice) Bultje of Lake Andes, Ember (Kasey Jons) Dale of Parkston; Grandchildren, Ericka, Brianna, JD, Riata, Emery, Marin, Adalynn and Alex. Also surviving is her father, Craig Rasmusson of Clark, a brother, Todd (Kristy) Rasmusson of Burley, ID, brothers-in-law, Jim (Renee) Dale, Mike (Linda) Dale; sisters-in-law, Joyce Kwasniewski and Dianne (Bruce) Wolff as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lori is preceded in death by her mother Jeanice (Alexander) Rasmusson and parents-in-law Clarence and Mariam Dale.
