A memorial service will be on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Arne-Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark. Lorena A. Shirk was born in Huron on August 17, 1914 to Leon and Luella LeClaire. She grew up in the Carpenter area. She graduated from Clark High School in 1933. She married Kenneth Shirk in July of 1939. When Kenneth went overseas to serve in WWII, Lorena participated in the war effort by working at a naval yard as a welder. After Kenneth returned home from the war, they lived in different areas of the country such as California, Texas and North Dakota. For the majority of her life, Lorena was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble. Lorena is survived by her son; Larry of Naperville, IL, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister; Lois (Milo) Wicks of Oregon, nieces; Joyce (Louis) Brush of Clark, Betty Keyes of Clark, Sally Waterfall of Clark, Mary (Marivn) Morlock of Eureka and a sister-in-law; Dorothy Shirk of Clark. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kenneth in 1982. Back
