She attended country school in the area and then Willow Lake High School. On January 1, 1932 she was united in marriage to Charles Edward Fisher. The couple lived and farmed west of Willow Lake. While on the farm, Lola was very active in the farming operation, working long, hard hours. Her husband died in 1962. Following his death she moved to Huron and was employed by different businesses over the years, among them being the Gibson Store, J. C. Penney and the nursing home. Due to failing health, she returned to the Willow Lake community in 1993 and lived in the apartments. Her daughter Shirley was her caregiver for several years, tending to her needs on a daily basis. As her health continued to decline, she moved to the Parkview Care Center in Bryant in March of 2009. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Willow Lake. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, crafting, playing word search and cross word games and being a Minnesota Twins fan. While on the farm, in addition to doing the farm labor, she also raised a large garden, canned and other farm chores. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and siblings, Eunice Downs, Alta Johnson, Leona Hadeen, and Leon and Dennis LaBore. Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughters, Doris Meyer of Arlington, MN and Shirley (George) Siebrands of Willow Lake, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
