Lois E. Stanton, age 88, Watertown, formerly of the Naples community, died in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown on Saturday evening, May 14, 2011. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 beginning at 5PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark with a 6:30PM Prayer service followed by a dinner in the funeral home fellowship area for those in attendance. The Reverend Robin Schaunaman will officiate. Music will be presented by pianist Dorothy Fuller. A family burial service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark will precede the memorial visitation. She was born on January 20, 1923 to Lester and Frances (Caulfield) Scott in Clark County, South Dakota. Her family farm north of Clark was called "Maple Grove". When she was 3 ½ years old, her family moved to a farm east of Naples. Lois attended school in Naples and then graduated from Hazel High School in 1940. She studied cosmetology in Watertown and after graduating in 1941; she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked as a hairdresser. In the spring of 1943, she moved to Cheyenne, WY, working for United Airlines actually building airplanes during World War II. On October 2, 1945 she married H. C. Stanton at Mullen, ID. They moved to the Naples area in 1947 and she remained there until 1972, with the exception of a few years spent in Winston Salem, NC and Nashville, TN. The Watertown area was home for many years. She will be remembered by many as the cook at several Watertown restaurants. She was very active in the Dorcas circle at Grace Lutheran Church sewing many quilts and assembling hundreds of layettes for the mission fields. In 2009, she moved to Country View Assisted Living Center in Florence. Lois is survived by her children, Jody (Bill) Fuller of Clark, Forrest "Mick" (Deanna) Stanton, James Stanton and Kevin (Deb) Stanton all of Watertown; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother Glenn (Mary Ruth) Scott of Naples. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lester and Francis Scott and brothers, Vernon, Leroy and Donald Scott and a son, Gary Stanton.
