Lois Ortberg, age 83, Warrenton, VA, formerly of Clark, the widow of Conrad Ortberg, died in her home in Warrenton on Saturday morning, November 30, 2013. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and after 10AM at the Church Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11AM in the Clark United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jen Tyler officiating. The organist will be Wanda Bethke with special music by Laurie Wallen. Casketbearers will be Adam Ortberg, Kelly Kettwig, Lacey Ortberg, Matt Ortberg, Collin Gaddis, Jill Gaddis. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. She was born Lois Borns on November 17, 1930 in Codington County, near Henry, SD, the daughter of Willie and Ruth (Popham) Borns. She attended country school through the eighth grade. On November 27, 1949 she was united in marriage to Conrad "Connie" Ortberg at the St. Martin's Lutheran Church at Watertown. The couple built a new home on the original farm site and lived and farmed there for many years, in Clark County. After his retirement, they spent a few winters in Arizona. As their health began to fail, they moved into a duplex in Clark about 2008. Connie died on April 21, 2010. Lois moved shortly after that time to Virginia to be closer to her son Ken. She enjoyed countless hours of visiting, having coffee with neighbors and great visits from long-time friend Delma Wallen. For several years, Lois also was a representative for Stanley Home Products. In free times she enjoyed playing cards. She loved to pull the grandchildren in the wagon and teach them how to make cinnamon rolls; something she was known for. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael. Survivors include her children, Ken and Natalie Ortberg - Warrenton, VA., Kevin and Sandy Ortberg - Clark, SD., Tom Ortberg - Mesa, AZ., Jim and Jean Ortberg - Clearfield, UT., & Merry Ortberg - Fairfax, VA; 8 grandchildren, Adam, Katie, Michelle, Sara, Jill, Matt, Zach and Sarah and 8 great-grandchildren.
