Lois M Brown

Lois M. Brown, age 80, of Clark, formerly of Willow Lake, died Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Avantara Nursing Home in Clark.

A memorial visitation will be held at Furness Funeral Home of Clark on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2-4 PM.  Burial will be in Richland Cemetery of rural Carpenter, SD at a later date.

Lois was born May 13, 1942, the daughter of Helena (Opsahl) and Clayton Townsend In the Redfield Hospital, Redfield, SD. She grew up going to school in Huron through the eighth grade. In the early 1960's, she lived in Huron and Chamberlain, helping her mother working at a truck stop. Lois married Thomas V. Brown in 1966 and helped Helena in various businesses in Willow Lake and Carpenter. She worked for Fairfield and McCain potato plants and then for Don and Babe Schmidt of Willow Lake.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, animals – especially cats, senior citizens, BINGO, arts and crafts and birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Joshua Steven Blocker.

Grateful for sharing her life are her daughter, Laina (Scott) Strohfus; grandsons, Devin(Jenn) and their children Zoey and Ashtin, Bryce (Kayleen)  and Clayton; and brothers, Alvin, Gary and Roy Townsend.
