Funeral services for Lloyd Young will be held on Monday, September 20, 2004 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with the Reverend Warren Rhodes officiating. Burial will military honors will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-5PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour prior to services at the Church Monday morning. Lloyd Vernon Young, age 77, Clark died on Tuesday evening, September 14, 2004 in the Beverly Healthcare Center at Clark after a brief illness. He had resided at the care center for a few days. He was born on August 28, 1927 near Garden City. He attended country school thru the eighth grade. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Ardis Jean Alexander. To this union three children were born. On September 13, 1975 he married Marilyn Adney Anderson at Henry. The couple has lived in Clark for many years where Lloyd was a self-employed carpenter. Some of his fondest moments were spent at the river fishing with Gerald Hartley or deer hunting with Dicky Smith. He enjoyed Sunday trips to Henry and spending time with his friends and families telling stories. He had a saying Life is short, live it your own way . Lloyd enjoyed cooking and had a secret recipe for pickled northern. He loved to voice his opinion, lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by all. He was a member of the Clark VFW and American Legion Posts. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Clark, children, Julie Ness and husband Steve of Osceola, WI, Shirley Johnson and husband Donovan of Rome, GA., and Larry Butch Young of Tullahoma, TN, 4 step-children, Carla Kelley of Austin, TX, Barb Desnoyers and husband Henry HT of Clark, Marge Paddock of Glenview, Il and Bernie Anderson and wife Linda of Garden City; a brother, Lester Young and wife Irene of Buffalo, MN, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a grandson, Lonny Young.
