Elizabeth "Liz" Fryslie, age 85 (Mrs. Don) died on Friday morning, May 25, 2018 at her home near Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Hosanna Lutheran Church at Watertown with The Reverends Janine Rew-Werling and Craig Werling officiating. The organist and soloist will be Angie Eickmeyer. Casketbearers will be Alfred Fryslie, Jeff Peterson, Roy Gjerde, John and Jerry Schmidt, and Jason Krause. Visitation will be one hour preceding services in the Church on Thursday morning. Following a luncheon in the Church fellowship hall, burial will be in the Vienna Lutheran Cemetery at Vienna.
She was born Elizabeth Irene Pope on December 25, 1932 at Great Falls, Montana, the daughter of Art and Willa (Hull) Pope. Liz as she became known, grew up in the Omak, WA area graduating from Omak High School in 1950. She then attended and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1954.
On July 11, 1954 she was united to Donald H. Fryslie who was stationed in the area in the United States military.
The couple lived in several places over the years. During these years, Liz taught school. As she taught, she also went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls, WI. She retired from teaching in the St. Croix Falls Elementary School at St. Croix Falls, WI, that was in 2003. The couple returned to South Dakota, making their home at Pelican Lake, near Watertown.
Some of the things Liz enjoyed over the years was tending to her flower gardens, reading – especially Christian book, attending Bible Study at the Church, sewing, playing bridge, and most of all, visiting – you immediately felt "at home" with Liz. Over the years she and Don enjoyed countless trips across all the States, and foreign travel- loving the trip to Germany. In her community besides her being active in her Church, she had also served as President of her local PEO Chapter in Watertown.
She was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church at Watertown.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 65 years, Don of Watertown, children, Stan (Becky) Fryslie of Watertown and Donna (Brian) Stromquist of Oak Grove, MN and 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth "Liz", Nick, Andrea, and Matthew.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials in her memory to the Prairie Lakes Hospice at Watertown.
