LeRoy Ordell Temple was born November 16, 1930 on a farm southwest of Clark, SD to parents Anton and Gladys (Pederson) Temple. He attended a country school in Darlington Township and then later Clark High School. "Bud", as he became known, received his State Farmer award in FFA before graduating from CHS in 1948. A love of his was Studebaker cars of which he owned several. He helped on the family farm until entering the US Army in 1951. Bud served his country honorably in the Korean War receiving various medals for his efforts. He was very proud of his military service.

After his discharge, he met Joyce Day at a dance at the Playhouse in Clark. On September 28, 1957, the couple were married. They farmed and eventually ended up on his folks' farm in Darlington Township. They raised four children, twins Brian and Bruce, Brad and Beth. In 1994, they moved into Clark but Bud still drove out to the farm to help. He also planted trees for the Soil Conservation Office, drove school bus and worked for Harlow's Bus Company.

Bud was a very active member of the Clark American Legion Post #60 where he was a Past Commander and had received his 50 year member award. You could always count on Bud to help with any Legion activities. He was also a member of the Darlington Township Board and enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and playing cards, especially pinocle. He and Joyce also loved to dance with waltzes being their favorite.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter in infancy, and his sister Evelyn Schorg.

Grateful for sharing in his life are his wife, Joyce of Clark; children, Brian (Ann) Temple of Mitchell, Bruce (Beth) of Litchfield Park, AZ, Brad (Gail) Temple of Clark and Beth Kissel of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren, Tony, Michael, Eric, Jordyn, Ryan and Jessica Temple, Mason and Emily Kissel, and Melissa (Matt) Nedved; brother-in-law, Ron Schorg and uncle, Lowell Pederson, both of Clark.
