Leora Faye Wallen

Leora Wallen, age 74, Clark, the widow of Kenneth Wallen, died peacefully with family members and care center staff at her side in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark and will continue at the Church in Clark on Monday morning after 9:30AM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with The Reverend Jen Tyler officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Center Lutheran Cemetery near Clark. Honorary Casketbearers will be the Clark American Legion Auxiliary and all of her care givers over the past few years. The active casketbearers will be Roy, Chris, & Andrew Stromsness and Dan Claussen. Dorothy Fuller will be the organist with Roger Nordhus as soloist. She was born Leora Faye Moe on June 22, 1938 at Bradley, SD, the daughter of Melvin and Lois (Forbragd) Moe. On June 3, 1956 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Gilbert Wallen at the Clark Center Lutheran Church. The couple lived and farmed in Garfield Township until their retirement in 1989 when they moved into Clark. Besides assisting on the farm, Leora also worked at Chef-Reddy/McCain Foods in Clark for a period of time. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark where she helped with the quilting/sewing group. Leora was an active member of the Clark American Legion Auxiliary, serving as District 3 President and also as a Unit President. She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening. Preceding her in death was her father, Melvin Moe and her husband Kenneth in 1996. Survivors include her daughter, Candyce Otteson of Sturgis, SD, mother, Lois Moe of Clark, a sister, Shirley Moe, son-in-law, Jim Otteson, 3 grandchildren, Matt (Melissa) Otteson, Kaley (Jeff) Bolish and Jori Otteson, 8 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Breanna, Christina, Karly, Erin and Carson Bolish and Ashton and Branch Otteson.
