Leonard Waldner

The Reverend Leonard Waldner, age 79, Clark Colony, died on Monday evening at his home after a lingering heart illness. He had served as the Minister at Clark Colony for some 35 years prior to his retirement due to health issues. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM on Wednesday at the Waldner home and will continue until the wake service on Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue Wednesday after the wake service until service time on Thursday. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 2PM at Clark Colony with burial in the colony cemetery. He was born on May 25, 1931 in Rose Isle, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Joseph and Susanna (Walter) Waldner. His family moved to the United States when he was five years old and settled at Jamesville Colony near Yankton On October 2, 1955 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Liz Waldner at Clark Colony, which was in the process of being established south of Raymond, in Spink County. He and Liz have lived there since. Leonard was a devoted man to his church and family, serving as the Minister at Clark Colony for 35 years. He will be missed by many. Survivors who are grateful for sharing his life is his wife of nearly 55 years, Elizabeth Liz Waldner of Clark Colony, children, Hildegard (Clarence) Wollman of Le Sueur, MN, Rosa (Sam) Wollman of Altona Colony, MN, Leonard (Rhoda) Waldner of Pennsylvania, Larry (Elizabeth) Waldner of Starland Colony, MN, Kenny (Christy) Waldner of Clark Colony and Tom (Justine) Waldner of Altona Colony, MN., 37 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves siblings Joseph (Helen) Waldner of Alabama, Darius (Rebecca) Waldner of Orland, SD, George (Susie) Waldner, Fred (Katie) Waldner, Paul (Rosa) Waldner all of Clark Colony and Jake (Mary) Waldner of Huron, SD. Brother-in-laws Andy Glanzer and Zack Waldner also survive. Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings, Elizabeth Waldner, Barbara Waldner, Elias (Esther) Waldner, Susanna (Andy), Rachel Glanzer & Sarah Waldner.
