Leonard Dale Kaufman, age 85, Clark, formerly a longtime Doland area farmer, died in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Thursday evening, October 1, 2015. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9AM at the Church on Monday morning. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating. Music will be provided by Wanda Bethke and Pat Seefeldt with two of Leonard's children, Judy Mayer and Barry Kaufman, singing. Casketbearers will be his grandchildren. Following a dinner, burial will take place in the Doland Cemetery at Doland. He was born Leonard Dale Kaufman on April 13, 1930, at Moundridge, KS the son of Daniel D. and Matilda (Goering) Kaufman. He attended elementary school at Moundridge, KS and the graduated from Peabody High School in 1949. He came to South Dakota with the Weems Harvesting Crew. This is where is met and later married Jeanette Darlene Robertson. The couple married on November 20, 1955 at the Doland United Methodist Church. They lived, farmed and raised their family along with his brother "Willie" for the next 38 years. Leonard was a member of United Methodist Church at Doland and since moving to Clark in 1993, the United Methodist Church at Clark where he was a member of the choir. He thoroughly enjoyed spending summer weekends boating and skiing with friends and family at Lake Byron. Leonard worked for the Clark Golf Club as greens/ground keeper for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents, twin sons in infancy, sisters, Mildred (Rolland) Klaassen, Leona Schmidt and Jerrie Kruse, a brother-in-law, Glendon Klaassen and sisters-in-law, Violet, Janice and Joyce Kaufman. Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Jeanette Kaufman of Clark, Judy (Reid) Mayer of Frankfort, Sheryl Swaby of Spearfish, Terry (Teresa) Kaufman of Clark and Barry (Pamela) Kaufman of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren, Heidi (Troy) Kruse, Matthew Mayer and fiancé Tiffany Blais, Mollie Mayer, Jay Swaby, Jennifer (Adrian) Netterberg, Joshua Swaby, Charles, Ashley, Kimberly and Alexandra Kaufman; 4 great-grandchildren, Eli and Graham Netterberg, Miriam and Seth Kruse. Leonard also leaves siblings, Milo (Betty) Kaufman of Potwan, KS, Dalmer Kaufman of Durham, KS, Wilmer "Willie" (Beverly) Kaufman of Frankfort, Reitha Klaassen and Jarold (Joann) Kaufman all of The Villages, FL; brothers-in-law, Menno Schmidt of Hutchinson, KS and Dwight Kruse of Marion, KS.
