Mrs. Leona Seefeldt, age 93, Clark, the widow of Martin "Red" Seefeldt died early Monday morning, April 7, 2008 in a Clark care center. Funeral services HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY April 12, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with The Reverend Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation hours will be on Thursday from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and will continue 1 hour preceding services Friday morning at the Church. She was born on July 28, 1914 in Day County, SD, the daughter of Robert and Lena (Raye) Ruymann. She attended school at Webster. In 1932 she was united in marriage to Grant Hanson and the couple lived at Webster prior to moving to Clark in 1941. To this union, three children were born, Shirley, Gary and Sharon. In 1959 she married Martin 'Red' Seefeldt at Huron. The couple resided in Clark. Leona worked for Larkin Potato Company, Fairfield (McCain Food Products) and also owned and operated the Worn-a-bit Shop in Clark for some 16 years. She also did housekeeping for many Clark residents over the years. Some of her hobbies included gardening, sewing and will long be remembered for her love of making and giving away many to sick children in the area, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Her latest hobby was putting together jigsaw puzzles, many of which she had framed and hung on the wall. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark for over 50 years where she was active in the WELCA and a circle group. Leona spent countless hours making quilts and layettes to be sent oversee to missions. She also sang in the choir for many years. Survivors include her children, Gary Hanson of Pacific Grove, CA, Sharon (Bob) Michalski of Willow Lake, SD; a son-in-law, Dutch Mehlberg of Penn Valley, CA and step-children, Diane (Loren) Englund of Casa Grande, AZ, David (Pat) Seefeldt of Rapid City, SD and Stanley (Janette) Seefeldt of Yankton, SD. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Her siblings Eulalia Weddle of Florida and Ruth West of Illinois also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin, a daughter Shirley Mehlberg, 2 grandsons, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
