Lenora M. Arends, age 80, rural Bryant, the widow of Don Arends, died in the Bryant Parkview Care Center on Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016. She had just entered the care center the day prior.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10 AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with The Reverend Keith Garness officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist.
Visitation will be held prior to the services. A luncheon will follow in the funeral home reception area. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake.
She was born Lenora Margaret Kelly on August 19, 1935 at Willow Lake, the daughter of Leonard and Rose (Boll) Kelly. She attended school south west of Willow Lake and then the 9th grade at Willow Lake High School. Lenora then returned to the family farm and helped.
On September 4, 1952 she was united in marriage to Donald Arends at Willow Lake. The couple lived and farmed south of Willow Lake their entire married life. Don died in November of 1986. Lenora continued living on the farm with her daughter and son-in-law's assistance until the past week.
During her living on the farm, she assisted in the duties of taking care of the cattle. She also loved her flower gardens, vegetable gardens and canning. Lenora also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidering.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a son-in-law, Glenn Taggert, a brother in infancy, and a brother, Jerry Kelly.
Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Taggert of Yankton, and Linda (Tim) Larson of Bryant. She also leaves to mourn a sister, Mary Ann (Elmer) Dirksen of Eastman, WI.
