Leland Leroy Bachman

Leland L. Bachman, age 70, Watertown, the son of the late Leo and Velma Bachman, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 1PM with visitation 1 hour prior to the services at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark, SD.  Pastor Mark Tracy will officiate.  Cyndi Bachman will be the pianist with Greg Furness as soloist. Active Pallbearers are Jim Paulson, David Paulson, Steve Anderson, Jim Packard, Joe Ortmeier, and Rich Heiden. Honorary Pallbearers are New Horizons Staff and Kacey Hoftiezer. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

AS REQUESTED: MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR NON VACCINATED PEOPLE (honor system) and highly recommended for all others.

Leland Leroy Bachman was born Saturday, January 19, 1952 to Leo and Velma (Heiden) Bachman at St. Ann's Hospital, Watertown, SD.  He was baptized June 13, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Clark, SD.

Leland attended the Grace Schaeffer School as well as Vocational Rehabilitation and Life Skills Development in Redfield, SD.  In December, 1976 Leland moved to Watertown, SD where he has lived independently until his hospitalization with Covid on March 22, 2022.  Leland continued to work at Empower and Community Service four days a week up to the date of his hospitalization.

Leland was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins, never missing a game whether on radio or TV.  He especially enjoyed several times when he actually got to see the Twins play in person at the stadium in Minneapolis.  Leland also went on several Search Beyond trips.  He enjoyed rodeos and loved to dance.

Leland is survived by his sister, Karyl (Jim) Somers of Watertown, SD, his brother Jerry (Cyndi) Bachman of Zell, SD and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Velma Bachman, paternal and maternal grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles
