Lee Thomas Schlagel, age 25, Sioux Falls, formerly of Clark, died on Monday evening, April 18, 2011 in the USD Sanford Medical Center after suffering an asthma attack earlier that evening. He was the son of Terry & Deb Schlagel of Clark. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. The organist will be his Aunt, Lynette Flint. The active casketbearers will be Eric Warren, Billy Krikac, Jay Kruger, Bryce DesLauriers, Matt Lindgren & Don Hoonhorst. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be all of his current and former teammates. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9:30 AM at the Church on Saturday morning. Lee was born on July 24, 1985 at Watertown, the son of Terry and Deb (Olson) Schlagel. He attended Clark Schools graduating in 2004. In his earlier years, Lee was involved in the Courier Classics 4-H Club where he showed horses and sheep. During his high school days, Lee was involved in all areas of athletics. One major accomplishment was the 2002, Class 11B State Football Championship which was the Clark High School first ever Team Championship team in which he quarterbacked. Following his high school education, Lee attended Minnesota West in Worthington, MN. Currently Lee was employed by Citibank in Sioux Falls working as a customer service rep. He excelled in many sports throughout the years and was continuing to be active in league sports. He thoroughly enjoyed playing softball in leagues in Worthington, MN and Sioux Falls. Lee was a people person, always had a smile, had something to say to put a smile on your face, and an unforgettable laugh. He knew how to make people laugh, a special person, would do anything for a friend and go the extra mile! Lee was baptized, confirmed and currently a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark. Grateful for having shared in his life are his parents, Terry & Deb Schlagel of Clark, a sister, Cassi (Daniel) Bloom of Watertown, a niece, Jadynn and his grandmother, Mildred Olson of Clark. He also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Wesley Olson and Glenn and Arlene Schlagel and an uncle, Dick Munce and Sam, his hunting dog.
