Lavoy Paul Woodring

LaVoy Paul Woodring, 89, of Doland, SD, passed away Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, at Redfield Community Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on January 11, 1935, the only son of Harold and Eva (Grandpre) Woodring.

LaVoy enjoyed his livelihood; farming and truck driving. He was known for his contagious laugh and pranks. He was always seen smiling and laughing. LaVoy loved to make homemade ice cream and popcorn, have bonfires, and grilling out at the campground with his family. A man of full of love, life, and family; he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by Wilda (Hill) Woodring of 65 years of marriage, children Lori (Rick) Rasmussen, Deb (Dave) Hersch, Dwight Woodring, Doris (Larry) Deming, Doug (Gloria) Woodring, David (Robin) Woodring, and two sisters, Wilda Alexander and Doris Harshman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia Wolf and Ardis Wolf, one son Daryl Woodring and his precious dog Tobi.

It was his wishes that no funeral was to be had and that he was to be donated for medical purposes to the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, then cremated and have a celebration of his life.

The celebration of life was held at Bottoms Up in Doland. SD, on March 23, 2024.  It was well attended by family and friends with many memories and laughs had by all.
