LaVon Jean Borg (Mrs. Harry), age 74, a lifelong resident of Willow Lake, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 en route to Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 1:30 PM in the St. Mary's Catholic Church at Bryant with Father Bill Hamak officiating. Burial will be in the St. James (Collins) Catholic Cemetery at Willow Lake. Jayne Pommer will be the organist, Dorothy Haug and Melanie Schmidt will sing. Active casketbearers are her sons with the honorary casketbearers being the grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 PM with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6PM all in the St. James Catholic Church at Willow Lake. She was born on September 19, 1930 at Willow Lake, the daughter of Jack and Muriel (Arwood) Meester. She attended school near Willow Lake and graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1948. On July 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Harry Eugene Borg at Bryant. The couple has lived and farmed in the Willow Lake area all of their lives while raising 10 children. She was a member St. James Catholic Church at Willow Lake and the St. James Altar Society. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will long be remembered for raising a big garden and making quilts for all her children. After retiring on the farm, she enjoyed working at the Jack & Jill Store in DeSmet. Grateful for having shared in her life is her loving husband of 55 years, Harry of Willow Lake, and 10 children, Eugene Borg and wife Doreen of Norwood-Young America, MN, Julie Bartling and husband Doug of Worthing, Cindy Janssen and husband Gary of Wabasha, MN, Harry M. Borg and wife Debi of Gardner, KS, Kendall Borg and wife Pam of Garretson, Tim Borg and wife Tammy of Willow Lake, Betty Reppe of Watertown, Mark Borg of Dell Rapids, Scott Borg and wife Marion of Willow Lake and Jody Borg and wife Kari of Holdridge, NE, 23 grandchildren, Allan, Dawn, Linn, Chad, Travis, Cody, Hilary, Tim Jr., Nathanael, Kendall Jr., Felicia, Breanna, Nicole, Steven, Cassie, Brittany, Cory, Adam, Matt, Levi, Allen, Amanda and Ashley and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves siblings, Joyce Selchert of Hazel, Darwin Meester and wife Patty of Huachuca City, AZ, Lois Brower and husband Don of Willow Lake, Arlene Nelson and husband Dwaine of Sinai and Audrey Norby of Elk Point. Preceding her in death were her parents and 2 brother-in-laws, Ray Selchert and Charlie Norby.
