Laura M Gross

Laura M. Gross, age 90, Clark, formerly of Crocker, died in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Friday, October 17, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue after 9AM at the Church in Crocker on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Crocker Lutheran Church with Minister Marion Grimes officiating. Casketbearers will be Floyd Maas, Lanny & Dennis Flatten, Loren Smith and John Zeck. The organist will be Marvine Obermeier with Wendy Christman as soloist. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley. She was born at Isabel, SD on April 7, 1924, the daughter of Paul and Wanda Sehnert. The family moved here from the Isabel area to a farm northwest of Crocker. Laura taught at several country schools in the area over the years. On September 14, 1948 she was united in marriage to William Carl Gross. He died on June 12, 1981 from a heart condition. Laura continued living on her own, working at the Golden Living Center in Clark years ago in the housekeeping department. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Kings in the corner and pinochle. In the family she will long be remembered for the supper she always fixed the night of opening pheasant season; fried pheasant, fried potatoes and pancakes, a tradition she really enjoyed. Ironically enough, she died the night before this year's pheasant opener, we are all certain Carl was waiting for pheasant pancakes! She was a member of the Crocker Lutheran Church and its women's groups. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, siblings Melvin and Ralph Sehnert. Grateful for having shared in her life is her son Roger (Artava) Gross of Beulah, WY, 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Ian, Brychan and Brianna and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sehnert of Clark.
