Larry Parliament, age 82 of Watertown, died peacefully early Monday morning, August 18, 2025
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11 AM at Cornerstone Church of Watertown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Following a lunch, burial will be at Prairie Hill Cemetery of rural Bradley, SD.
Larry Dean Parliament was born September 17, 1942 in Watertown, SD to Vernon and Ann (Aaland) Parliament. He grew up in Bryant, SD, graduating from Bryant High School in 1960.
Larry married Charlene Jensen in Vienna, SD in 1965 and they raised two children, Brian and Brenda. During those years Larry and Charlene lived in California where Larry worked for Motorola, as a radio installer. When the kids were ready to start school, they moved back to South Dakota and lived near Hayti, where he owned and operated a body shop. The family also lived on Lake Poinsett, where he loved to water ski and ice fish. Larry and his brother, Keith, had a used car business in Watertown, called Parliament Auto Sales.
Larry and Connie (Yexley) Stern were married on July 5, 2002 at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer in Watertown. They built their acreage between Watertown and Florence, where Larry had his own shop and continued in the used car/truck business until he semi-retired.
Larry had a love for all animals, especially his many cats and dogs over the years. Horses came along with Connie, and he loved them, too. He had many talents, building and fixing things until his illness took those gifts from him. Larry was a regular for coffee in the mornings at Stockman's and the Wheel Inn, both of which became his second home.
Larry was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Watertown.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie of Florence, SD; children Brian (Delcy) Parliament of Hernando, FL; Brenda (Kevin) Wise of Riverview, FL; Connie's daughters, Trudi (Kyle) Gaikowski of Clark, SD; Heidi (Kaley) Madsen of Carpenter, SD; grandchildren: Matthew Parliament, Andrew Blanford, Collin Gaikowski, Cade Gaikowski, Eve Gaikowski, Scarlett Madsen and Larkyn Madsen; a brother, Keith Parliament of Corsicana, TX; brother-in-law, Terry (Lyn) Yexley and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Geri (Parliament) Johnson; granddaughter, Samantha Ann Blanford; nephew, Nick Parliament, and in-laws, Cliff and Ida Yexley.
Family prefers memorials be sent to Prairie Lake Hospice or Glacial Lakes Humane Society.
Furness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
