Strickler's life journey ended Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden, SD, at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 1 day. Visitation will be at the Methodist Church in Iroquois on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 7-9 PM. A prayer service will start the public visitation at 7:00 PM Funeral Services will be at the Methodist Church in Iroquois on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Manchester Cemetery. Kenneth Dale Strickler was born to Lloyd and Viola (Rhoades) Strickler on June 27, 1922, on a farm southwest of Iroquois, SD. He grew up there as a boy until the family moved to a farm site SW of Manchester, SD. In 1948 he bought the farm site one mile west and one south of Wallum's Corner, at Manchester. He met and married E. Eileen Warren March 23, 1952, in Iroquois. They lived, farmed, and raised their family at this residence. He retired in 1987 and they moved to their current home at 211 N. Ottawa in Iroquois, SD. Ken served on the Manchester School Board, the Manchester Township Board for many years, and as an Elder in the Manchester OPC church. He never strayed far from his home "The Farm". He was always content to work the land, spend time with his many friends, and most of all his family, both immediate and extended, as he was a mentor to many nieces and nephews. Ken will be missed by the entire community, especially his wife, Eileen, of Iroquois, daughters Paula (Rodney) De Jong of Watertown, SD; Lisa (Kevin) Butler of Green Bay, WI; sons Mark (Kimberly) Strickler of Cavour, SD; and Kevin (Susan) Strickler of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandsons, four grandaughters, four great grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, and many beloved extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leonard and Lyle Strickler, and four sisters, Miriam Reckard, Ida Ferguson, Mildred Peoples, and Helen Mae Strickler, and many, many dear friends.
