Kenneth "Kenny" Lee Karber

Kenneth "Kenny" L. Karber, age 90, Clark, died on Thursday night, January 9, 2020 in a Watertown hospital.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-6PM with a Liturgical Wake service beginning at 5:30 PM all in the Furness Funeral Home in Clark.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:30 AM in the St .Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with The Reverend Daniel Smith celebrating.  Music will be presented by Members of St. Michael's. Jackie Schlagel and Bonnie Graves.  Casketbearers will be members of the family.  Burial will be in the spring in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark.

He was born Kenneth Lee Karber on September 13, 1929 at Clark, the son of William and Edna (Krapp) Karber.  Kenny attended country school near Clark through the 8 th grade.  Following his schooling he helped on the family farm along with various other jobs in the area.

On October 4, 1950 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Urdahl at St. Michael's Church in Clark.  The couple lived in Watertown, Deadwood where he worked at Homestake Gold Mine for 9 years and then moved back to Clark.  After semi-retirement they wintered in Apache Junction, AZ.  Kenny was a plumber for many years and even after retirement, he only  semi-retired, continued plumbing for anyone that needed a small odd job completed, even riding his three-wheel bike in Arizona to tinker at the neighbors trailers too!  He enjoyed camping and fishing in his free moments.  After Bonnie's death in 2011, he continued living in Clark, moving into an apartment and then to the Wookey Center in June of 2019.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Bonnie, a sister, Kathleen (John) Olson and a brother-in-law, Bernard Mehlberg.  Also preceding were two great-granddaughters and in laws, Karen Urdahl, Myrtis (Robert) Lyke, Donna (Harold) Hanchett, Shirley (Marvin) Larson, and Jackie (Jim) Peckham,

Survivors include his daughter, Barb (Larry) Gienger of Spearfish and Gary (Sherry) Karber of Brookings, 6 grandchildren, Carmen, Dawn, Travis, Sara, Nathan, and Chad, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  He also leaves a brother, Roger Karber of Clark and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Mehlberg of Rapid City.
