Kenneth L Barton

Kenneth Barton, age 56, Pierre, formerly of the Bradley community died in the St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Pierre this morning, February 11, 2010 after suffering a brain bleed. He was the son of Raymond (Esther Nygaard) Barton. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 11AM in the Bradley Community Center at Bradley with Minister Marion Grimes officiating. Music will be provided by Wendy Christman. A dinner will follow the services in the community center. Interment of his ashes will be private. There will be no visitation. He was born at Webster, SD on January 19, 1954, the son of Raymond and Esther (Nygaard) Barton. He attended and graduated school in Bradley. Following his schooling he worked for the railroad in various communities for several years. As a young man he also had a fondness for farming. Over the years, Kenny had various health issues as a result of an automobile accident in 1973. Those health issues only were speed bumps in a life filled with fun and adventure. He worked for a time in California where he built swimming pools. He also raised and sold championship hunting dogs. Some of his fondest moments in life were spent hunting with his many friends around the Bradley/Lily communities. Kenny will long be remembered for being loved by everyone that he met, he had a zest for life and didnt allo9w his ill health to slow him down. He enjoyed sports watching NASCAR, going to high school basketball games and loved his coffee time at the Getting Lucky Casino each morning. He was the type of person that would give you $5 even though he only had $4.50 in his pocket and found a way to take care of everybody, including someone he had just met. Kenny had an infectious laugh and loved to play a practical joke. He was a simple man that had a more than difficult life he would meet life head on with a smile no matter how gray the sky appeared. He will be missed by many. Survivors include his children, Andrew Barton and Shanda (Pat) Connelly, 2 grandchildren, his Mother, Esther Nygaard Barton, his fianc, Sandy Supik and her dog, his best buddy, Odie. He also leaves siblings, Alice Strand, Richard Barton, Harriet Neal and Karen Carter.
