Keith C Erickson

Keith C. Erickson, age 70, Raymond, died peacefully in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Tuesday afternoon, September 2, 2014 with family at his side after a courageous 7 year battle due to cancer. He had resided in the care center for the past five days. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue on Saturday after 9AM at the Church in Raymond. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the First Presbyterian Church at Raymond with Pastor Donna Nickels officiating. Deb Waldner will be the pianist. The casketbearers will be Michael, Brian, Kevin, and Jerry Hink, Danny Martin and Monte McNickle. Burial will follow in the Prairie Valley Cemetery at Raymond. A luncheon will follow at the Raymond Fire/American Legion Baker Post #209 Hall. He was born Keith Cameron Erickson, at Clark, SD on July 31, 1944, the son of Cliff and Mabel (Martin) Erickson. He was schooled in a country school near the Erickson family farm, attended Raymond School and also Doland High School. Keith met and married Barbara Hink on May 9, 1961 at Redfield. To this union 4 daughters were born, Sherri, Loralei, Christy and Angel. Even though no sons joined the Erickson family, Keith taught his daughters farming and the love of Angus cows and the South Dakota land. Keith spent his entire life in and around the Raymond area farming and raising the best beef/Angus cattle and farmland. The cows were as much of a part of his family as his kids! He and Barbara celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Raymond where he served as an usher, on the Church council, and until just recently, served as the treasurer. Keith also was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Mosaic Lodge #175 of Raymond, SD. until they disbanded recently. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brothers, Rodney. Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Barbara of Raymond, daughters, Sherri (Bruce) Winer and Loralei (Jason) Berry all of Marshfield, WI, Christy Schuett of Aberdeen, SD and Angel (Chad) Dubro of Iroquois, SD, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial given in his memory to the First Presbyterian Church at Raymond, SD.
